Nature’s Circle is a Cape Cod, Massachusetts organization sponsored by The Green Center whose purpose is to provide classes and nature walks as well as information about clean water, recycling, land management, and other aspects of our relationship with nature. Find out where we go and what we do!
Field walks include freshwater pond life, barrier beach formation, and vegetation, salt marshes, upland habitats, botany, and bird walks. We also hold talks on birds, botany, butterflies, habitats and ecology with local naturalists and specialists. Participants learn about The 300 Committee, the Falmouth Department of Natural Resources, the Falmouth Conservation Commission, and how they work to preserve the conservation land of Falmouth. Nature’s Circle works closely with them to bring you information about our environment so that you may enjoy nature more and protect it.
There is a profound need for each of us to understand the connections between ourselves and the health of the earth. Every living being and plant, every particle of land and sea is interdependent with all the others. All our actions affect everything on earth in some way. It is time that we all took responsibility for the future of the creatures on earth, including all the humans. Our neighbors benefit from this local, accessible nature program, becoming aware of the close connection between themselves and their environment.
Nature’s Circle history
Nature’s Circle was founded in 1995 to provide the people of the southwest corner of the Cape with an active nature program. At the time, residents rarely went to explore the nature centers on the Cape, and our lovely woods and beaches, marshes and dune systems were used only occasionally by those other centers when a naturalist came from afar to lead a walk. Since then, perhaps due to the stimulus of Nature’s Circle, there are many more opportunities to study nature out in the field with professional leaders.
I wish that this wonderful organization would consider perusing its own website. Any of the informative videos are scrolled so fast that it is impossible to read them- and I read fast!
But thank you for a great effort. Just shows that all this ‘new green stuff’ is not so new. If not for the Whole Earth Catalog I would not be aware of you, and there are a great many other topics that seem to be lost to our consciousness.
